Christine, MA, MT-BC, has been serving as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) since 2013. She graduated in from Cal Poly in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in music for piano performance and a minor in psychology. She knew she wanted to use her musical gifts to benefit others, so she decided to pursue music therapy as a career, and went on to complete her master's degree in music therapy from New York University, where she received the Samuel Eshborn Service Award, and significant recognition as a music therapist.
Christine spent two additional years as a post-graduate to study advanced vocal psychotherapy. In addition to her national board certification as a music therapist, she is also a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in New York State. Click here to watch Christine discuss her work.
As she planned her return to California to be closer to family, Christine was excited to discover and join the music therapy team at The Music Place and Arts Educators Group, giving her the opportunity to return to her work with younger clients, which she has always found very fulfilling. In her spare time, Christine enjoys training for marathons and spending time with her family and dogs.
Christine uses the Nordoff-Robbins approach to music therapy, which uses music to improve the lives of individuals with psychological, physical, and developmental disabilities. Her therapy practice is informed from a person-centered, child-centered perspective. She believes that every child is musical, and that music lies within every individual. Her process is primarily music-centered music therapy, and also incorporates kinesthetic modalities (yoga and dance), as well as simple mindfulness techniques and instrument play.
