As a child, Pat was exposed to every sort of music under the sun, which laid the foundation for the musician he is today. He began teaching in the late 1980's and returned to the South Bay in 2015 to be closer to family. Having served around the world for the "Youth with a Mission" program, he has used his gifts of composition and leadership to reach out into communities in the Philippines, Japan, Hawaii, and more.

Pat holds a B.A. in Music from San Jose State University, with an emphasis in jazz and Guitar Performance. He is competent to teach guitar and other fretted instruments at all levels and styles from baroque to bossa, Polynesian, rock, and jazz. Pat is a husband and father, and in his spare time, he enjoys composing, building guitars, singing, and leading the music programs at his church.

He and his wife Lisa have two grown sons who are professional musicians. Pat is a Tier III teacher.

Testimonials

"Dear Mr. Pat, We think you are the greatest guitar teacher there ever was and hope to continue with you as long as you will have us."
~ A. Oku

[My child] "just loves his half hour each week with Pat. In fact, a couple weeks ago we were suggesting a special outing as a reward for his cooperative behavior in school, and his first [idea] was to go to The Music Place, and this was on a Thursday when he had just been there the day before. So there you have it . His first thought was not Children's Discovery Museum or miniature golfing, but music with Pat. He sometimes shares the exciting things he has learned, like what a violin bow and strings are made of, and other times is just content. In 3 1/2 months he has not interacted with classmates and is very withdrawn [in school], but at The Music Place he thrives so we are glad he has this one time of week where he can be himself in a safe place and be expressive in a place outside of home that is."
