From the time Shane began private piano lessons in the second grade, to the time he received his B.A. in Improvisational Music Studies from San Jose State University, he has consistently taken music seriously. This includes applying his strong understanding of music theory and jazz to his guitar playing and teaching as well. This includes note and melody reading, using a pick, chords, tablature, fingerpicking and more. He was first inspired to learn to play the piano when he heard his grandmother play Viennese waltzes. He has been teaching jazz and classical piano, and guitar in various genres, since 2003, and joined The Music Place teaching faculty in 2005.

He has been the pianist for musicals, choirs, church services, and weddings, and continues to perform at restaurants, with jazz trios, and with Latin jazz/salsa and big band ensembles. Some of his notable achievements include performing at the world renowned Monterey Jazz Festival and performing with Latin Jazz sensation and recording artist, Pete Escovedo.

Shane is originally from Campbell, CA and enjoys spending time with his parents, brother, and cat. He also enjoys composing, arranging, and experimenting with digital audio software.
